Want To Set A Powerlifting World Record?

Perhaps you’ve looked in the mirror lately and not been impressed with what you’ve seen, most of us that look in the mirror definitely do not see someone with the powerlifting world record staring back at us.

You may have gotten out of shape because of a sedentary job or perhaps just from avoiding your exercise and diet routines. You may never have been in the shape that you’ve wanted to.

You may have done a little research and found out a little about power lifting and it looks like something that you would enjoy – maybe even set a powerlifting world record some day.

The Glory Of It All

The thing with power lifting is that it’s an adaptable sport that takes anyone in and crafts them into a powerful athlete. From the youngest members at thirteen or fourteen to the older competitors, power lifting isn’t just for one kind of person or exerciser.

Why Motivation Works

The powerlifting world record is held by an athlete that had a dream. He wanted to know how much stress and strain the human body could be put under – and then with time and training, he found out. This isn’t because he was naturally strong or that his workouts were ever easy, it’s because he had one focus – to lift more than any other human had.

Having this kind of goal is crucial to making any fitness program work. You want to have something to be your powerlifting world record so that you will know when you have worked out hard enough and if you’re falling behind in your routine.

How To Create A Goal That Works

While you might not want to set the next powerlifting world record, here are some great tips to set your own personal record in anything. First of all, you need to start with a specific goal that you want to reach. This can be something big or something small.

Some people like to choose a smaller goal that they are confident they can reach and also create other larger goals they want to reach in the future. In either case, it needs to be specific. Just saying that you want to get in shape is not enough; you need to get specific about how far you want to be able to run without stopping, for example.

Next for your personal powerlifting world record goal, you will want to pick a goal that is measurable. For example, many lifters will choose goals of certain amounts of weight that they want to lift. They will also choose a timetable in which they want this goal to be reached.

The goal does have to be realistic as well. Wanting to run a one minute mile just isn’t something that’s possible (at least, not yet), so there’s little motivation that can be gained from creating goals like that.

You may never set the new powerlifting world record in your life, but with these tips, you can consistently set and surpass your own personal goals.
